Here are some photos from the road to (from, actually) Joshua Tree. These are views of Mt. San Jacinto, which rises above Palm Springs to a height of over 10,000 feet, west of Joshua Tree. Idyllwild is in these mountains, about halfway up.
Below Mt. San Jacinto is the wind farm, which generates electricity for Palm Springs and other nearby areas.
We walked in Hidden Valley (below) which is in the high desert part of Joshua Tree.
There are some petroglyphs in Hidden Valley.
Brian and Erika liked the rocks by the petroglyphs.
Erika likes lizards. There were plenty of them for her to photograph.
Below is the view from where we had lunch. Yes. Really. Brian and Erika lifted that huge boulder out of the way so we could get past. (No, not really.)
Most of the group went through that little space between boulders to Harry's right to picnic. The ledge was too small to hold all of us, so a few of us stayed in the cool shade on the other side, which is where the above photos were taken.
