Plant Information

Scrophulariaceae

In the garden:

This plant can be grown from seed in the garden, although seed is only available through specialty seed houses.

In the wild:

Found in dry places in chaparral, wooded or brushy slopes, coastal sage scrub, ocean bluffs, to 3500'.  Hybridizes readily with other species.

Ethnobotany:

Used by native folks for personal adornment.  The plant was dried and powdered, and used to make a wash as a topical antibiotic.
