Plant Information

Fagaceae

In the garden:

This oak is closely related to Quercus dumosa.   It grows to a height of about 15 feet. The acorn is edible. This evergreen is useful for slope cover or screen, as it is drought tolerant. In fact, this plant can survive on almost no water. It is good for erosion control.

In the wild:

In nature, it is common on dry slopes, mostly from 3000 to 6500 feet.
